Mr. Jeffrey George (SWVA Land Management of Norfolk Southern Railroad informed me on January 15, 2008 that he expected the railroad to have a decision on whether they (the railroad) would be willing to donate the Town of Appalachia the 5 acres of land beside the old Bullitt Mine Complex within 4 to 6 weeks of January 15, 2008. NOW is the time for citizens who would like to see a sports complex revitalize the Town of Appalachia to SPEAK OUT! We must pull together. Our town, Our school, Our HOME are at risk of becoming extinct!

Congressman Rick Boucher wrote a letter to the CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation requesting they donate this parcel of land to the Town of Appalachia. He noted this could prove crucial to the revitalization efforts in our town.

Please call or write Mr. Bud Phillips (Virginia House of Delegates) AND MR. BOUCHER (Congressman) urging them to press Norfolk Southern Railroad to donate this land to our town. You can find all contact information below. Let's pull together all across Southwest Virginia. It's now time to rally!
